Excellent racing quad kit! I just finished building and testing it over a few days and put in around 10 packs. It accelerates like a rocketship! I also really like that the 12V VTX power is switchable from a radio channel and off by default. It’s extremely useful for maintenance and repairs during a race, and it gives me peace of mind about overheating, since I can keep it off while I take time getting comfy in my chair.
There are a few small downsides. The included props snag on the stack saver a tiny bit in the front, and my own props make the stack saver unusable altogether.
Overall I give it a perfect 5 stars anyway. The highlights are the switchable VTX and the integrated cap. The biggest downsides are the stack saver and the lack of a current sensor for mAh drawn. That’s not extremely important, but it’s important enough to mention in a review imo.
A few things to note:
– Order mesh tape for the arms if you want to follow the video build guide completely.
– I had to remove the pins from the HDZero VTX connector and place them on the FC’s VTX connector. Triple-check the pins against the wiring diagram online.
– By default the 12V for the VTX is OFF. You need to enable it in Betaflight and assign a radio channel to it with the User mode in the Modes tab.
– Use the Betaflight version included in the diff file (4.5.3). I tried flashing the two most recent 4.6 builds and it wasn’t recognized at all after flashing. It was easy to fix with the boot button, thankfully. After going back to 4.5.3, I updated to 4.5.5 today because I needed a feature from that version, and I’ve flown 4 packs since with no issues.
– I found it best to use only the thin rubber spacers with the HDZero VTX, otherwise the gummies get ultra squished.
